New Picture Book: Hodge the Hedgehog

I have received the newly printed copies of my latest book, Hodge the Hedgehog: so here it is!

Published by Meadowside, with rhyming tongue-twisting text by Amy Sparkes, Hodge is due to hit the shelves in August ‘09. A fair way off but should tie in nicely with its autumnal theme. I’m looking forward to seeing it in those shops…

Meanwhile, I’m working on a couple of new picture book titles with Simon & Schuster London, and various other animation projects are on the boil (visit the frater site for the latest). More soon.

Hi Benji - I was just checking out the writer’s bureau online, and read Amy Sparkes’ comments about how much the course had helped her break into writing - so it was good to see your site and your illustrations for the actual book she wrote!. I am thinking of trying to begin a writing career, and have written one short children’s story that I think needs some great artwork like yours to bring it alive. Maybe you would prefer the comission to come from a publisher that is going to actually publish the book - maybe you won’t even like the story - but I think it could really come alive with the right art work - and I can think of several other stories to follow in the style I chose - native north amercian folk tale. Would you be interested in checking out the story - it wouldn’t take long to read - to see if you think you could work with it? Assuming you have links with a publisher already - maybe you have an idea about whether they would like it or not?

    Kind regards

    Nick
