Dragons on the loose!

My latest tome has hit the shelves of your local Waterstone’s… run for your lives!!

Its okay, they’re upstanding citizens, only the locals don’t know it - yet.

When The Dragons Came is written by two primary school teachers, Naomi Kefford and Lynne Moore, and is published by Simon & Schuster.

If you’re too scared to go outside, you can get it online here and here

Palle det Prikne Pindsvin!

A nice surprise in the post this week… some danish editions of Hodge the Hedgehog.

Lamberth have done a lovely job on the cover re-design, in a tactile matt finish using a crop of one of the interior spreads. Adgang forbudt!

How to… get lost in a good book

As winter draws in with an icy tongue around the door, we must once again plot our escapes.

A new take on an old idea

I’ve had this one tucked away in a drawer for a long time now and after a trip to Whitstable, and a few lungfuls of salty sea air, was inspired to work up this concept image. Its loosely based on my graduation film from my days up in Hull - “A Bowl of Soup” it was called, about a boy and his dad who live by the sea, and what they find washed up on the shore. Maybe this evolution can take it somewhere else in the future…

Legendary Coiffures

Slightly off kilter to my children’s book work, here is an image i created last year as an antidote to said books… the mythically hirsuit; the Zep. With tribute to George Hardie’s original album cover in the backdrop:

…more books!

Hello… or should that be Konnichiwa? …Yahsu?

It was a surprise to finally receive copies of these novelty pop-ups i worked on last year.. and find they were in Greek and Japanese! The different font characters look great though and i’m assured the English versions will be in the post soon. Oh, and some French ones too. Bien sûr.

I had always wondered how “Speedy Pizza” would look in Greek…

New Picture Book: Hodge the Hedgehog

I have received the newly printed copies of my latest book, Hodge the Hedgehog: so here it is!

Published by Meadowside, with rhyming tongue-twisting text by Amy Sparkes, Hodge is due to hit the shelves in August ‘09. A fair way off but should tie in nicely with its autumnal theme. I’m looking forward to seeing it in those shops…

Meanwhile, I’m working on a couple of new picture book titles with Simon & Schuster London, and various other animation projects are on the boil (visit the frater site for the latest). More soon.
