Wish You Were Here
If you happen to be on the Essex Road in Islington, you should pop into the George Orwell for a pint and a peruse. I have a piece of work in an exhibition which adorns the walls of the bar, one of 22 contributing artists; the title/brief, “Wish You Were Here”.
Here are a few shots of my 50×70cm giclee print, “Syd’s Dream”. The exhibition will be hanging there till mid-November… go along and see the rest! (Thanks to Mr Gresty who organised the whole shebang)

Book that I didn’t illustrate #1
Heres some old spec work for a book that I started work on, but in the end, the job was awarded to another artist. *illustrator sheds tear*

Bowie & Bardem
Just discovered these two pics in my old artwork folders, a couple of mildly caricature-ish portrait experiments. Firstly, Bowie, in his mum’s blouse, with a pirate patch and space age dandy’s mullet…

Who’s for dessert?

These gruesome fellows are from “Gruff’s Guide to Fairy Tale Land” which I have just put the finishing touches to. And boy, are they hungry!
I’d hide if I were you.

Thar she blows!
Ok, i’m a geek, but here is my new arrival, a Wacom 12WX. I thought I’d share her unpacking…
I broke a small bottle of best ink against her bows and dubbed her Betsy. She’s a beauty!
I also took the oppurtunity to test her out by doing a colour sketch of a crusty-looking fellow from the Gruff’s Guide books I’m working on. Let’s call him Old Prawn Face for now.

Le sketchbook
I recently returned from my summer hols in Venice and the South of France. Summer was doing well here when I left but seems to have taken a dip…
I took the opportunity to do some sketching. Was great to just sit and draw.. its been a while! Mainly beach-folk, and the odd parasol.
The results, edited:

Dragons on the loose!
My latest tome has hit the shelves of your local Waterstone’s… run for your lives!!
Its okay, these dragons are upstanding citizens, only the locals don’t know it yet.
When The Dragons Came is written by two primary school teachers, Naomi Kefford and Lynne Moore, and is published by Simon & Schuster.
If you’re too scared to go outside, you can get it online here and here

Palle det Prikne Pindsvin!
A nice surprise in the post this week… some danish editions of Hodge the Hedgehog.
Lamberth have done a lovely job on the cover re-design, in a tactile matt finish using a crop of one of the interior spreads. Adgang forbudt!
